2012 Yeosu - Hyper-Matrix

Jonpasang, a Seoul based media arts group, created this installation titled “Hyper-Matrix” for the Hyundai Motor Group Exhibition Pavilion in Korea, the 2012 Yeosu EXPO site. The installation comprises a specially made steel construction to support thousands of stepper motors that control 300x300mm Lightweight blocks to move in and out of the facade, creating infiniti number of possibilities in the vertical, 180 degree, landscape. The audience also took part in the installation as thousands of cubes start moving by the audience’s sounds. Pixel waves sweep the space, ripples emit from the centre and just in case this is not enough, projection mapping takes care of the rest

Jonpasang collective includes Jin-Yo Mok, Sookyun Yang, Earl Park, Jin-Wook Yeo and Sang-Wook Yu.
